The SportEasy messaging system is available on the mobile app (iOS and Android) as well as on the website.
You can use it as soon as you are a member (or parent of a member) of a team.

Difference between an event forum and a discussion
Your messages can be sent in two different contexts:
Message in an event forum
Message in a discussion
It is important to understand this difference, to communicate perfectly with the members of your team (or your child's team).
Message in an event forum
Each time an event is created by a Coach (and/or an Admin), a discussion forum is automatically created and associated with this event, whatever the type of event: friendly match, league match, training, tournament, extra-sporting event ...
All team members (and their parents) can view the messages exchanged, AND send messages in this forum, even if they have not been selected to participate in the event. Even members with the role of Friend or Occasional player can view and send forum messages.
It is not possible to restrict access to only those who have been selected.
This forum is available from the event's dedicated page, but also in the Messaging tab of your team's main menu, both from the mobile app and the SportEasy website.
Important: A forum for a past event AND in which no new message has been posted for 15 days, is automatically archived and will no longer appear in your Messaging tab.
This forum remains accessible from the event page. If a new message is posted there, the forum will reappear in the Messaging tab. It cannot be deleted.
You can see who has read the messages thanks to the member icons below the messages.
Message in a discussion
To exchange messages outside the context of an event, each member can decide to create a discussion. They can add and/or remove any other team member in this discussion.
Messages are limited to 1000 characters; beyond that, you will need to send your message in several parts.
A member who is not part of the discussion participants will not see it appear in their messaging tab, and therefore will not be able to view and/or send messages in this discussion.
This discussion will therefore be visible only to participants, from the Messaging tab in your team's main menu, both from the mobile app and the SportEasy website.
Important: A discussion is never archived automatically. If you want it to disappear from your messaging, an administrator of the discussion must delete it. However, admins cannot read all private discussions.
You can see who has read the messages thanks to the member icons below the messages.
Send a message to the whole team (via a discussion)
Whatever your role, Player, Coach or even Parent of a player, you can very easily send a message to all or some of the members of your team, outside of an event, by creating a dedicated discussion.
Here is how to send a message to your whole team:

Important: A discussion is never archived automatically. If you want it to disappear from your messaging, an administrator of the discussion must delete it.

To start a discussion with all or some of your team members, and thus be able to exchange "private" messages with these people from the website, you need to:
Hover over the left side menu of your screen and click on the Messaging tab
Click on the envelope-shaped button to create a New discussion:
Fill in the Choose one or more recipients field with the names of the squad members you want to send an internal message to (i.e. a private message).
Add a title, if needed.
Finally, all you have to do is write your first message.
You can choose to disable the automatic sending of the message when you press the Enter key on your keyboard, to the right of the Send button.
Mobile app 📱
To start a discussion with all or some of your team members, and thus be able to exchange "private" messages with these people from the mobile app, go to the Messaging tab at the bottom of the screen, then to the + at the top right.
You can then specify the subject of the discussion and select all or some of the members who should be included in the discussion.
Send a specific message for an event (via a forum)
Whatever your role, Player, Coach or even Parent of a player, you can very easily send a "public" message in an event forum in which your team is participating.
Here is how to send a message in an event forum:

To send a "public" message to the members of your team, about a specific event, simply write it in the event forum.
This forum is available from the event's dedicated page, but also in the Messaging tab of your team's main menu, both from the mobile app and the SportEasy website.

From the event page, click on the Forum tab.

Edit or delete a message

Hover over the relevant message then click on the three little dots to the left of it:
You can then edit or delete your message.
Mobile app 📱
Hold down on the relevant message for a few seconds, then click on Edit or Delete.
Pin a message
It is now possible to pin a message at the top of a conversation in the various SportEasy messaging areas.
This feature is available for all types of messages (text, file, poll, etc.) and for all team roles. This makes it possible to highlight important information and find it quickly. Only one message can be pinned at a time in a discussion.

Simply click on the 3 dots next to your message and click on Pin. The message will automatically move to the top of your conversation.
By clicking on the pinned message, you will automatically be redirected to its position in the conversation. If the message has not yet loaded (for example, if it is old), it will open in a separate window so you can view it immediately.
To unpin the pinned message, simply click on the 3 dots next to your message and click on Unpin.
Important:
Only one message can be pinned at a time: if you pin a new message, it will replace the previous one. A message will appear to ensure you want to replace the already pinned message. Then click on Replace.
You can have the same interactions with a pinned message as with any other message in the conversation.

Hold down on the relevant message for a few seconds, then click on Pin. It will then move to the top of the conversation.
Add/Remove members in a discussion
If you are the creator of a discussion, or if you have been appointed as an administrator of the discussion, you can add or remove participants from this discussion as you wish.
Here is how to do it in detail:

Please note: We are talking here only about how it works in the context of a discussion (outside of an event).
Also note that it is impossible to add/remove recipients in an event forum because absolutely all team members have access to the messages in these forums. The only way to prevent a member from viewing/responding to messages in a forum is to permanently remove them from the team.

Go to the discussion, from the Messages tab in the team's main menu, then:
click on the discussion management icon
click on Add recipients
Click on the icon to the right of a participant's name, to Remove them from the discussion
Mobile app 📱
Go to the discussion, from the Messaging tab in the team's main menu, then:
Click on the ⚙️ settings icon of the discussion
Click on Add participants

Click on Add participants or click on the icon to the right of a participant's name, to Remove them from the discussion
Share documents (PDF, Excel, videos, photos, ...)
Whether in an event forum or in a discussion, you can share all types of documents via a message on SportEasy.
Here are some examples of file formats you can share: PDF, Excel, Word, Videos, Photos, ...
Please note: Avoid sharing files that are too large, especially very long videos (e.g. several tens of minutes) or too many photos, even though there is no attachment limit.
SportEasy should only be used to occasionally share a few important files for your team (e.g. training sheets, a video of the best goal of the match, a few photos of your victory celebration).
If you want to share and store thousands of files, it is better to consider using a third-party storage service.
Manage your new message notification preferences
When a new message is added to a discussion you are participating in, or to an event forum, you may receive a notification to inform you.
This notification is categorised as "minor", unlike other types of notifications which are "major".
You can choose to edit your general notification preferences, to receive more or fewer new message notifications.
You can also directly decide to put a discussion, OR a forum, in Silent mode to no longer be notified of new messages associated with it.
Finally, you can simply choose to Leave a discussion (but you cannot leave a forum).
To do this, simply:
click on the discussion settings icon
click on Silent mode, or on Leave discussion
Delete a message, moderate members' messages
As a team member, you can delete any of your messages in an event forum or in a discussion you are participating in.
As a coach (and/or administrator) of the team, you can delete any message in an event forum or in a discussion you are participating in.
To do this, simply:
- long press on this message and click on Delete (from the mobile app)
- click on the 3 dots next to the message (from the website)
Important: It is impossible to disable the use of messaging (whether for forums or discussions). If you want to moderate the comments of certain members, you must therefore delete their messages one by one.
It may happen that a member continues to write unacceptable messages, despite your many deletions and/or warnings. A member who behaves in this way will write the same comments, whatever messaging tool is used.
We encourage you not to penalise the whole team by considering stopping using SportEasy messaging. This would only move the problem elsewhere.
However, in this case, a radical solution would be to remove the member from the team.
It is not yet possible to bulk delete either members' messages or discussions.
Send an official message to all club members (CLUB subscription)
You are a club manager and want to send an official message to all or some of your members; for this you must use SportEasy with a CLUB subscription.
