Stripe, our payment provider, is required to verify the identity of the managers of all accounts that collect payments. This obligation stems from the strengthening of European anti-money laundering regulations (AML/KYC - Know Your Customer) and applies to all clubs and associations using SportEasy collections, regardless of their country.
Without validated supporting documents, Stripe may restrict or block your club's payment collection.
💡 Good to know: This is not an action taken by SportEasy. It is a direct requirement from Stripe, imposed by the European legal framework. SportEasy does not have access to your documents and cannot complete this process on your behalf.

🔴 My Stripe account is blocked (status: Limited)
Your Stripe account is currently in Limited status. Payment collection via SportEasy is suspended.
What you see in the app:
An alert banner is displayed across all tabs of your club or team space:
⚠️ Action required: unblock your Stripe account as soon as possible
This banner remains displayed until your account returns to verified status on Stripe.
What you need to do:
- Click Edit in the banner
- You are redirected to your Stripe interface
- Follow the requested steps and provide the required information and documents (see the section below)
Once your information and documents have been submitted, Stripe handles the verification. The banner will disappear automatically once your account returns to verified status. During verification, a message will indicate that your documents are being reviewed.
🟠 My Stripe account will soon be blocked (status: Soon to be Limited)
Your Stripe account will switch to limited status if you do not act before the indicated date.
What you see in the app:
An alert banner is displayed across all tabs of your club or team space with the deadline:
⚠️ Action required before [date]: avoid the suspension of your Stripe account
What you need to do: same process as for a blocked account. Click Edit and complete your file to avoid any service interruption.
Once your documents have been submitted, the banner updates and displays:
🕐 Your information and supporting documents are being verified by Stripe. This banner will disappear once your account is verified again.
🟢 My Stripe account is verified
No action required. Your Stripe account is active and your payment collection is working normally. No banner is displayed in your app.
📄 What documents should I provide to Stripe?
To continue collecting online payments on SportEasy, Stripe must verify the identity of your association's legal representative and the legal existence of your association. Here is what you need to prepare.
👤 Legal representative's identity document
Stripe accepts the following documents:
- National identity card (front and back required)
- Passport
- Driving licence (front and back required)
Requirements: the document must be in colour, valid (not expired), and provided as a JPEG/PNG photo or PDF scan of the original document. Screenshots are systematically rejected.
📬 Legal representative's proof of address
The document must be less than 6 months old and in your name. Accepted documents include:
- Electricity, gas or water bill
- Phone or mobile bill
- Bank statement
- Rent receipt (from a social or real estate agency)
- Home insurance certificate
Also accepted with a 12-month limit: tax notice, housing tax certificate, CAF statement mentioning housing-related aid.
🏢 Official document of your association
To prove the legal existence of your association, the most common and easiest documents to obtain are:
- The prefectural registration receipt (recommended: straightforward, official, and usually available in your records)
- The notice of publication in the Journal Officiel
- The signed statutes of the association
⚠️ The name of the association on the document must match exactly the name registered in your Stripe settings. Even a minor difference (abbreviation, capitalisation…) may result in rejection.
👥 Members of the board of directors
Stripe also requires you to identify the directors of the entity. In the context of a sports association, these are the members of the governing board as they appear on your official documents (president, treasurer, secretary, etc.).
Good news: as an association, you do not need to enter an "owner" (a concept that applies to commercial companies). Only the board members are concerned.
❌ Why was my document rejected?
The most common reasons for rejection are:
- Expired document
- Screenshot provided instead of a scan or photo
- Name on the document does not match the name registered in Stripe
- Cropped or incomplete document (missing pages or borders)
- Missing back side for a national ID card or driving licence
- Black and white photo ID
- Incorrect file format (other than PDF, JPEG or PNG)
